Jump-Starting A Dead Horse
The Jimmy Carter Entertainment Report
If the fourth quarter doesn't jump-start music sales with all the superstar product, then the staffs of all the labels better be dusting off their resumes!

New Eagles, new Bruce, new Garth, Kenny, Rascal Flatts, Brooks & Dunn, etc. The repacked-for-the-100th-time Elvis material.

The Lisa Marie Presley video with Elvis of "In The Ghetto" is a WOW! (At least on first viewing.) WWW.Spinner.com has it ... among others.

Garth Brooks and Huey Lewis shooting a music video for "Working for a Livin'" at the Atlanta NASCAR track Thursday. Temperatures were well over 120 on the track. Huey was in a long leather coat, I am told. Ouch.

Hank, Jr. and "Monday Night Football" are still married. New season on September 10th -- and Jr. has outlasted the hosts and most of the players. Year #19! Brian Setzer and his horns back up Hank, Jr. this year with Richie Sambora, Gretchen Wilson and Bootsy Collins. Fall and cooler weather can't get here soon enough.

Sweating like no other time and still enjoying Brad Paisley at The Wharf Amphitheatre in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, AL. Heat index 110 at showtime; who knows what the air temp was on the stage. I was at the guitar tech area and sweat just poured. Brad never blinked. He was rubber-legged when he was done with the encore, though. Later he told me it was the hottest show he had ever been through. 110 heat index meant 90-something temp and the rest air-clogging humidity. A sauna. YUK.

Paisley's show with Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram and Kellie Pickler is the year's hottest young package. Brad is the best. I like every song he does.

The heat kept me away from Graceland and out of the weather after getting back from the beach. Miserable weather. N.Y. State Fair cranking up this week; I hope they get some cool breezes. Many big country stars at that event in Syracuse.

I see where the local Nashville newspaper accepted "voluntary severance packages" from 24 employees. Voluntary ... yeah, right. The newspaper biz is in the crapper. The Internet is changing EVERYTHING . I can't say that obvious point enough.

Figure out My Space, Facebook, all that stuff ... or just retire. Or be retired.

It's not a request. Soon, it will be just gone!
