Country Music Singer Garth Brooks

Goodbye Garth...Again?
The Jimmy Carter Entertainment Report
Happy Thanksgiving week. It has been interesting reading about Garth Brooks and his return to the spotlight.

When you look at his sales of the last week, the man outsold Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Reba, Rascal Flatts and Carrie combined. Add the old Eagle boys and the old guys are still in charge at the cash register.

Garth has returned to Oklahoma, we guess. But you wonder how long this retirement will last. If he didn't get the stage bug again after those great shows, he is even more confusing. Maybe it's high-tech touring with the Internet. Who knows with Mr. Brooks? Never underestimate or play poker with this King of Country Music.

What a great coup it was combing the power of Keith urban and Carrie Underwood. Carrie has already opened for Brad and Kenny, but now as a co-headliner it seems more headline-worthy. She is still unproven at the box office. Just like Shania was. Does anyone doubt her power? Keith post-rehab is back and running and the race is on for Entertainer of the Year 2008. Keith could easily do it with the career plan they seem to have for him in 2008. Is Brad going to get out of the way or go for it?

The holidays are upon us. The CD sales don't seem that hot on my read. Some stars are flat as a pancake even though they are huge concert draws. It is a crazy business right now.

Has anyone heard the audio quality/mix on the reissue of the Beatles' "Help!"? If some of the classics of country could be made to sound as good as those Beatle songs ... whoaaaaaaaaaaa! I don't claim to understand audio recording technology today, but listen to the DVD as well as look at it. The sound quality is off the scale You can hear things you've never heard before. Could that be done with many of the country classics? Go to Best Buy or Amazon.com and buy "Help!" LISTEN and WATCH a truly amazing technical feat.

Getting ready for a long car road trip to the Northeast. I'm glad I have my XM, but I am going to tune around. I hope I hear more than voicetracking.
