No Grammys For Me
The Jimmy Carter Entertainment Report
Have the credentials and paid for the airline ticket, but not going to this year's Grammys. I've covered some 25 of the 50 Grammy shows. This year I am just not into POP music, the mainstay of the show.

Music sales are down in part because the music right now is crappy. There really is no "got to see" star is there? Is there anyone worth flying across the country to see? I don't feel there is. Sales may indicate the economy, the digital age and the boring factor.

Country seems a lot more interesting, as a complete genre, than any other genre of music. I am talking the fringe country people in that mix. Country is the new POP.

Country gets two performances and that's good. Taylor will be a presenter and that's about it. I like Beyonce and it would be great to see former Tennessean Tina Turner. Just nothing to get me in that metal bubble for five hours. Stargazing is fun every time, but this year flying is worse. What an overall awful experience these days. (I think I say that every week)

What a thrill it must be for Taylor Swift this weekend! Carrie is still rolling and Brad is a gem.

Trace Atkins still hanging on in "Celebrity Apprentice." Did you know you could watch missed episodes on NBC.com free?

"Nashville Star" beginnig its audition run in days ... be on the look-out.

This BamaJam event in Alabama June 5-7 sounds huge and fun. Year one tickets at 877 4Bamajam and www.bamajammusicfestival.com. Hank Jr, Daryl Worley, Little Big Town, lots of bluegrass, ZZ Top , Miranda Lambert, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ricky Skaggs and more. RVs welcome, etc. Go get more info ... I'm going!

I am NOT going to Bonaroo. Whew, bunch of hippies, no baths ... a little to loud and stinky for me. I never wanted to be in the crowd of Woodstock. Backstage, YES!

The Hollywood writers strike is done or close to it.

Summer concert of the bunch is Shea Stadium New York for Billy Joel's farewell to the stadium. "From the Beatles to Billy" it's called. July 16th.

Daytona Week ... Valentine's Day ... busy week....

Politics, too. McCain vs. Obama ... did anyone predict that a year ago?
