Some of Country music's most recognizable voices are coming together to for the upcoming CD release, Never Forget, a tribute to the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The compilation features brand-new songs that are written especially for this particular project.
Rebecca Lynn Howard and Charlie Daniels, two of the artists featured on the album, debuted their respective songs at the christening of the USS New York in Avondale, LA in March. This particular transport dock ship is special because seven and a half tons of steel salvaged from the World Trade Center Towers was used to build it. At the ceremony Howard sang the album's title track, "Never Forget," and Daniels performed a song about the ship called "USS New York."
Other artists featured on the tribute album include: Aaron Tippin, Tracy Lawrence, George Jones, Pam Tillis, Tanya Tucker, Michael Peterson and newcomers Lloyd Knight, Leah Faith and Justin Ryan. Songwriter Anita Cox penned most of the CD's original music. Look for it to hit stores and digital retailers on August 26th.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Hope For The Warriors Foundation, a charity that assists men and women in the military who are returning from battle with catastrophic injuries. For more information, visit www.ussnewyork.com.
